In this form, the Singha lifts one paw from the ground. In Balinese iconography, a raised limb signals alertness at the edge of action. The guardian has noticed something. He has not yet chosen force or welcome. It is a pause charged with awareness.

The raised paw marks the Singha as an active sentinel: one who can intervene, but does not rush to do so. Protection here is measured, intentional, and awake.

In Hindu and Balinese tradition, Garuda is the embodiment of duty carried into motion, upholding dharma by carrying what must endure.

Born a powerful, mythical being, Garuda earns his place through loyalty and sacrifice. In the Ramayana and later Hindu cosmology, Garuda becomes the vehicle of Wisnu, his chosen ally. Together they move between realms, sustaining the moral order that connects heaven and earth.

Garuda represents dharma in action: responsibility made visible, ethics expressed through movement. His travels bear the weight of cosmic balance across worlds.

This collection honors Garuda as a force of connection: between realms, between ideals and action, between what is believed and what is done.

In the Ramayana, Rama and Sita are the axis around which order holds. 

Surrounded by forest, animal life, and flowering forms, Rama and Sita stand within the living world they are sworn to protect. This carving reflects the Balinese understanding of dharma not as conquest, but as alignment: humans, nature, and the unseen moving as one. The deer at their side bears witness while the surrounding forests holds the lovers in eternity.

In a story of journey, exile, and return,  the lovers find a moment of stillness and belonging.

This depiction draws from the Ramayana episode in which Hanuman races to save Lakshmana by carrying the Sanjivani-bearing mountain.

Hanuman kneels even as he bears the immense weight: a visual paradox that emphasizes humility within power. The mountain represents responsibility strength deployed in service of life.

In Balinese Hindu tradition, Hanuman is often represented in white, a color associated with purity of intention, spiritual clarity, and unwavering loyalty, all qualities embodied in this moment of selfless action.
